Blesemshops for Kids

Resilience training as play. Using AR/VR, cartoon storybooks and role‑play, we prepare the next generation of Caribbean children to stay calm, think clearly and care for one another when storms come.

The Pilot Design

A 3‑day journey from curious to confident

Through BLESEMSHOPS, IGECON delivers, but is not limited to, these three modules.
Day 1

Learn and Explore

Safety basics: "Stay calm, listen, find your safe spot."

VR tour of a cartoon‑style hurricane shelter showing supplies, water, flashlight, blanket.

Outcome: Kids understand what a shelter is and why it matters.
Day 2

Problem‑Solving Play

Role‑play in VR: children act as helpers guiding a friend to safety, calming someone scared, finding supplies.

Teamwork games: small group challenges to practise communication and empathy.

Outcome: Builds confidence, teamwork and compassion.
Day 3

Practise and Reflect

VR mini‑audit — kids check that the shelter has water, flashlights and clear exits.

Creative debrief — drawing or storytelling activity about "My Safe Shelter."

Outcome: Reinforces learning in a fun, memorable way.
Intergenerational Care

Kids learn to help the elderly

In BLESEMSHOPS Kids, children are taught to assist the elderly inside shelters, guiding them to safe exits, helping carry supplies and practising empathy through VR role‑play. Resilience becomes intergenerational, with children learning to protect not only themselves but also the most vulnerable in their families.

Helping carry supplies, water, flashlights, blankets.

Calm communication and empathy through role‑play.

Accessible Technology

AR/VR for every classroom

We use AR/VR with cardboard headset holders, phones slide inside, so any school or community centre can deliver resilience training at low cost. Edlin Rochford is preparing the Kids Handbook as a storybook with cartoon visuals, making the experience joyful, safe and unforgettable.
